HKU Facilities & Student Services
The Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS) manages three Amenities Centres and the facilities are open for use by students and staff as individuals or in groups. Some facilities can be booked online for exclusive use. Priority is given to students, student societies, and student-organized activities.
The University Health Service provides for the health needs of students, staff, dependants, and retired staff with the aim of promoting and maintaining their physical and psychological well-being through the provision of accessible and cost-effective primary health care and health education. Services including:
Medical Consultations, Dental Consultations, Emergency Services, Nursing Services, Special Service & Check-up Packages, Wellness Check-up, Well Woman Check-up, Travel Health Service, Weight Control Programme, Occupational Health & Safety, Laboratory Dispensary, Physiotherapy, Health Education, etc.
Sports facilities are provided at Flora Ho and Lindsay Ride Sports Centres, mainly indoors, at Pokfulam Road, with the University's major sports fields being located in the Stanley Ho Sports Centre at Sha Wan Drive, Sandy Bay area with provision for athletics, softball, soccer and hockey etc.
Library & Other Learning Spaces
[Chi-Wah Learning Commons]
Located in Centennial Campus, is a 6000 ㎡ plush supersize self-learning area with multiple facilities spreads over three levels which include 3D printers, Windows PCs and Mac computers, diverse kinds of sofas and so on. Tailored Group study rooms can be booked for group interactivities. An aquarium which is full of deep-sea fish is lying on the second floor. Because the Hundreds of thousands of annual maintenance fee, it is saying that students’ tuition fees were paid for the fish, it was dubbed “the swimming tuition fees”.
Main Library is one of the five libraries in HKU and composed of the Old and New Wings. The ground of New Wings was named as library extension, which comprises 9 classrooms. Located at LE1, the Hui Pun Hing Lecture Hall, is the largest and one of the coldest classroom—for its strong air conditioning system--in HKU. The library needs the student card to enter or make an appointment to visit ahead if you do not have a student card or an employee card.
